Software:
SoftMap has announced that topo50, topo20 and
topo250 products are now available with Version 5
software.
Version 5 software includes GPS interface software. Get
real-time positioning, plus transfer tracks, routes and waypoints with Garmin
and Magellan GPS receivers. Get real-time positioning with all other NMEA 0183
v.2 output GPS receivers. (Note: Maps do not appear on the screen of the GPS.)
The GPS interface used to be offered separately for $79.95 and is now included
free with Version 5. Similar GPS interfaces for other digital map products sell
for more than $100!
The new packages are the smaller DVD-style cases. The software that
runs the program is the new version 5 but the packages contain the same maps on
CD-ROM as before. (There have been only a very few new topo
maps issued since the CDs were published.)
Updated software, including a GPS interface ...
but the same low price!
Retailers of SoftMap products should contact us for details about
trade-ins.
Notice
for current owners of topo50, topo20 and topo250 CD-ROMs
Technical Support for Version 4 (up to and including version 4.95) of
the software that operates these products will not be offered after December
31, 2007. Like many other software manufacturers, SoftMap will be unable to
provide ongoing support for an older version of software. We sincerely regret
any inconvenience.
Your SoftMap CD/DVDs will continue to work after December 31, 2007.
If you don't use Technical Support, there's no need to do anything - no upgrade
is required.
For ongoing support, you may wish to upgrade to Version 5 software
which can be downloaded for $29.95.
Alternately, you can buy TopoWeb which
includes a 1 year on-line subscription to all the maps of the province of your
choice. TopoWeb Canada or TopoWeb Quebec can still read the data on your
existing CD-ROMs
